چکیده

A high-precision 3D structuring of dielectrics by sub-1 ps pulses is possible by dielectric breakdown and opens an unique possibility to create a high temperature electrons inside material under processing. The 3D nano/micro-structuring by dielectric breakdown is numerically simulated by 3D finite-differences time domain (FDTD) calculations where the plasma is simulated by a nanosphere of metal (gold). The effect of anisotropic light scattering in the plane of incident polarization has been qualitatively explained by light inteaction with ionized (metalic) focal volume. It is shown that the experimentaly achieved densification of materials after irradiation by tightly focused sub1 ps pulses is consistent with formation of new high-pressure phases.

Atomic Insights into the Melting Behavior of Metallic Nano-catalysts

In the present study, molecular dynamics simulations have been utilized to provide fundamental understanding of melting behavior of pure Pd and Pt nanoparticles with the size of 10 nm in diameter, both free and graphene-supported during continuous heating. The embedded atom method is employed to model the metal-metal interactions, whereas a Lennard-Jones potential is applied to describe the met...

Computational studies on the interaction of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) with nitrogen modified TiO2 anatase nanoparticles

Density functional theory calculations were performed to investigate vitamin C interaction withN-doped TiO2 anatase nanoparticles. The adsorption of vitamin C on the energy favorable fivefoldcoordinated titanium sites was investigated. Various adsorption geometries of vitamin C towardsthe nanoparticle were examined. Since the adsorption energies of N-doped nanoparticles are higherthan those of ...

Metallic nanoparticles enhanced the spontaneous emission of semiconductor nanocrystals embedded in nanoimprinted photonic crystals.

We report on a method to enhance the light-emission efficiency of printable thin films of a polymer doped with luminescent (CdSe)ZnS nanocrystals via metallic nanoparticles and nanoimprinted photonic crystals. We experimentally show a strong fluorescence enhancement of nanocrystals by coupling exciton-plasmon with the localized surface plasmon of metallic nanoparticles. The emitted light is eff...

Solar cell efficiency enhancement using a hemisphere texture containing metal nanostructures

One major problem of the conventional solar cells is low conversion efficiency. In this work, we have proposed a new design including hemisphere texturing on top and metallic plasmonic nanostructure under the silicon layer to enhance the optical absorption inside the photosensitive layer.    The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method has been used to investigate the interaction of light wi...

Interaction of radially polarized focused light with a prolate spheroidal nanoparticle.

The interaction of a nanoparticle with light is affected by nanoparticle geometry and composition, as well as by focused beam parameters, such as the polarization and numerical aperture of the beam. The interaction of a radially focused beam with a prolate spheroidal nanoparticle is particularly important because it has the potential to produce strong near-field electromagnetic radiation. Stron...

Metallic Nanoparticles Coupled with Photosynthetic Complexes

Plasmon excitations in metallic nanoparticles provide an efficient way to manipulate electromagnetic fields at the nanoscale (Maier, 2004). While the interactions between plasmons and simple nanostructures such as organic dyes or semiconductor nanocrystals is relatively well described and understood, application of metallic nanoparticles to multipigment structures has started just recently (Car...
